Fishing

Fish are plentiful in Brittany, with more than 35 species in it’s rivers and canals. Some of the best fishing in France can be found in Brittany‘s rivers and lakes. The rivers local to us are L'Oust for all course fish. L'Yvel and Le Blavet for trout, salmon, sea trout, pike and other   coure fish

And of course you have the Nantes-Brest canal as well!

Sea Fishing

The Breton coastline spans 1700kms , so plenty of room to cast your line from the beach,  rocks or quay. Whether you are spinning or surf casting, there are sea bass, sea bream,   turbot, or sole and if you prefer a sportier catch try shark fishing out at sea.

No permits required for sea fishing.

Lake Fishing

At the Lac au Duc at Ploermel, for perch, carp and pike. There are other small lakes                in the area that allow fishing.

Permits can be bought for a day, two weeks or annual periods, and will cover                    fishing in the whole of Morbihan.

Cycling

We have a couple of bikes you can use free of charge or bring your own.

The Voie Vert and the Nantes-Brest canal are perfect for long leisurely rides, both are within cycling distance, and the terrain is flat and well maintained.

The countryside around us is very beautiful and the lanes and roads take you through picturesque villages. The traffic is very light and cars are very considerate to cyclists, they will slow down and give you a wide berth.

Horse Riding

Brittany can offer 2,000 kms of bridle paths , why not enjoy an invigorating beach ride or a gentle hack in the countryside or forest. There are many riding stables in the area, the closest being here in Ste Catherine or at Le Roc St Andre, a few minutes away.

On the water

If your passion is sailing, canoes, kayaks, dinghies, windsurfing or water skiing, then locally   it’s all available at the Lac au Duc , Ploermel.

The Base Nautique hires out a good selection of craft at reasonable prices.

For sailing down at the coast, discover the vast inland sea of the Golfe du Morbihan, there are 365 islands here. Some have communities living on them and others are nature reserves. Again, you are spoilt for choice where water sports are involved, you will have no difficulty in finding what you want. Sail centres at La Trinité sur Mer and Port Crouesty are very good.

It has to be here!

The spectacular Quiberon Peninsula, which stretches 9 miles from Plouharnel to Quiberon town at its southern tip.

The eastern side is sheltered and overlooks the Bay of Quiberon, but its the western side you want. Known as the wild coast (Cote Sauvage), it has long sandy beaches that are open to the Atlantic winds and currents, rather more rugged and rocky with cliffs, reefs and caves.

There is a good choice of hire centres and schools along this stretch that caters for these water sports.

During the winter months, there are parts of this coastline that experience very big surf and can make these waters unswimmable and dangerous.
