STE CATHERINE

The Chapel 

Ste Catherine is so called because of the Chapel. It dates back to the 13th century and is in fact our closest neighbour. Registered as a historical monument it was a coaching inn on the route of the Compostelle to Spain, centre for pilgrimages for centuries passed. On the 1st Sunday of August the one and only service of the year takes place. Well worth a visit and only a stones throw away.

The Cider Farm

 The cider house opened in 1992 and it produces excellent cider using traditional methods all are bottled on the premises . Various ciders and drinks are made from the juice that can be tasted and purchased on site. Open every afternoon throughout the year with guided tours of the cider house in July & August, and only a 3 minute stroll away.

The Equestrian Centre

 

This riding establishment caters for all ages and levels from as young as 4 years old . They have 30 horses and 15 ponies and arrange walks and rides by the hour for individuals and groups. Every year at the end of July they host their own show with over 200 horses and riders taking part , a 5 minute walk should do it.

  

 

L’Ecomusée des Vieux Métiers ( museum of old trades )

Located about a 3 minute walk passed the riding centre, this museum is spread over 2000 m², with over 70,000 objects depicting the old Breton way of life. Exhibits include old farm machinery, vehicles, books, clocks, toys, costumes, furniture and loads of other interesting items too numerous to mention, there is also a shop where you can buy reminders of your visit.
